HART
What is HART?
Hart is UMaine's High Angle Rescue Team. HART is both a student organization and an on-call volunteer search and rescue team registered with the State of Maine Search and Rescue (MASAR). Based here in Orono, we'll take call outs for this area as well as for the rest of the state, most likely the Baxter/Katahdin area. While we will be associated with DIRIGO search and Rescue, the other area search and rescue team; HART is different than DIRIGO in that we're trained in High Angle Rescue as well as regular Ground Search techniques.
HART provides the classes and trainings needed for those who want to be a part of the team. There are many levels of certifications needed to be a fully certified High Angle Rescuer. These trainings as well as several skills training days will be held throughout the year.
