About Us
Lifelines is a group focused around experiential learning lead by UMaine students and trained staff.
Our Mission
Our mission is to use the outdoor experience to help students grow holistically; in their relationships with each other, with God, and in leadership and character.
Our Vision
We want to transform your life and your experience on campus. Our goal is not to make you perfect, but to make you real. We believe that people benefit from authentic relationships. Is your life characterized by duty or desire, indifference or commitment, mistrust or vulnerablility?
Having real relationships means actually trusting each other rather than just talking about trust. It means standing up for what you believe rather than just going with the flow. Being a leader rather than waiting for someone else to do it. We think that relationships are complicated and hard but can be deciphered. In order to do this we need to grow holistically: relationally, emotionally, and spiritually.
So What Do We Do Anyway?
- We go on a lot of outdoor trips. (See our our adventures page for more info.)
- We offer group team building trips to any group of students on-campus. They can range anywhere from an hour to a weekend!
- We hold skills clinics & guide trainings
- We have an open weekly meeting (Tues. 8pm, Multi-Purpose Room, Memorial Union)
- We meet in groups & one-on-one to work on growing in multiple ways:
- Physically
- We do this mainly through outdoor adventure.
- Emotionally
- We want to help you grow in leadership and in character, to learn how to set healthy boundaries, how to bond well with others, how to deal with the ups and downs of life, and live as an adult.
- Spiritually
- We want to answer questions you have about spiritual topics, and talk about how to have a relationship with God.
- Physically
Who Can Be A Part?
Anyone can, there is no experience required. If any of this interests you check us out; come to one of our weekly meetings, join us for a trip, or shoot us an e-mail here. We'll do our best to answer any questions you have.
